Helmet Size Guide

Find your helmet size in 4 steps

A helmet only protects you if it fits. Measure your head at home, match it to the chart, then come in and try it on. Here's exactly how.

  1. 1

    Measure your head

Wrap a soft measuring tape (or a string you can measure after) around the largest part of your head — about one finger-width above your eyebrows and around the back.

  2. 2

    Keep it level and snug

Hold the tape level all the way around, snug but not tight. Take the reading twice and use the larger number.

  3. 3

    Match it to the chart

Find your measurement in the table above. If you're between two sizes, go for the smaller one — the padding settles in with use.

  4. 4

    Check the fit in person

Sizes differ between brands. The only real test is trying it on — that's exactly what we help you do in the shop.

Helmet size chart by head circumference

S 55 – 56 cm 21.7 – 22.0 in
M 57 – 58 cm 22.4 – 22.8 in
L 59 – 60 cm 23.2 – 23.6 in
XL 61 – 62 cm 24.0 – 24.4 in
XXL 63 – 64 cm 24.8 – 25.2 in

Measure around the largest part of your head, about one finger-width above your eyebrows. Sizes are a guide — fit varies by brand.

The real test

How a correct helmet should feel

The chart gets you close. These checks tell you it's actually right — and they're exactly what we run through with you in the shop.

  • Snug all around — the cheek pads should press your cheeks gently, no gaps.
  • It shouldn't slide. Shake your head; the helmet moves your skin, not on its own.
  • No pressure points after a few minutes — a sore forehead means it's too small or the wrong shape.
  • The chin strap, done up, lets you fit only one or two fingers underneath.
  • Roll-off test: with the strap done up, it shouldn't roll forward off your head.

Sizing questions

Good to know

What if I'm between two helmet sizes?
Choose the smaller size. A new helmet's cheek pads feel firm and break in slightly with use, so a snug helmet beds in to a perfect fit — a loose one only gets looser.
Do all brands use the same sizes?
No — an 'L' in one brand can fit like an 'M' in another, and head shapes differ too (round vs oval). Use the chart to get close, then try the helmet on. We keep several brands so you can compare.
Can you help me measure and fit in the shop?
Yes, that's what we're here for. Come in and we'll measure your head and let you try different brands and sizes until one fits snugly and comfortably.
